Soccer Game Preview: Catholic vs. Manteo

The Catholic Crusaders will head out to square off against the Manteo Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Catholic's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Peninsula Catholic. Catholic haven't had any issues with Peninsula Catholic recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Catholic's offense was hitting Peninsula Catholic from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Ella Barnes led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Manteo had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-0 victory. That's two games straight that Manteo have won by exactly nine goals.

Manteo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.
