Basketball Recap: Giselle Muffett Key Part of a Team Effort in Jaguars Win

West Jordan was handed a 27-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the West Hills Wolf Pack 48-45. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 61st in Utah, while the Wolf Pack are ranked 270th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Jordan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Giselle Muffett, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. The game was Muffett's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Erilyn Lokeni was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

West Jordan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Defeat or not, West Hills got some senior leadership from Jordan Dillon and Amber Froehlich. Dillon went 7 of 14 on her way to 22 points along with five assists and four steals, while Froehlich posted seven points and seven rebounds. Dillon is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Zappia, who had seven points and five rebounds.

West Jordan's record now sits at 3-6. As for West Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

West Jordan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-40 victory against Dana Hills on the 30th. As for West Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-52 win against Poway on the 30th.
