Volleyball Recap: Hermann Falls Despite Big Games from Erika Schutt and Kealie Lane + How To Watch

After flying high against New Haven on Tuesday, Hermann came back down to earth. The Bearcats lost 3-0 to the St. Clair Bulldogs on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bearcats have suffered since September 3rd.

Hermann might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on St. Clair: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-23, 27-25, 25-22.

Kealie Lane and Erika Schutt certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Lane had 15 digs and one assist, while Schutt had nine digs. Lane is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

St. Clair's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lianah McDonald, who had 18 digs. Those 18 digs gave McDonald a new career-high. Kaylee Martin also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Hermann's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8-1. As for St. Clair, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-11-1.

Hermann will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Washington at 6:00 p.m. on the 6th. As for St. Clair, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Salem on the 29th.
