The result came thanks to Neely McElhaney's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kings got a massive performance out of Grace Parkhurst, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Fera, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Kings lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Little Miami didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Loveland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Walnut Hills with a sharp 15-0 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.
Maddie Raih was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Raih was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Loveland let Olivia Williams and Summer Rohlfs run wild. Williams got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Rohlfs went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that Rohlfs has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Grace Alkire, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Kings' victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Loveland, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 6-8.
Everything went Kings' way against Loveland in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Kings made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
