Volleyball Recap: Winston Academy Takes a Loss

If Winston Academy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Columbus Christian Academy on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Regents Lions on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

While Winston Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Regents work, particularly in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 26-24.

Loss or not, Winston Academy got some senior leadership from Maggie Burns and Carsen Mcadory. Burns had eight digs and four aces, while Mcadory had 21 digs and two aces. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Mcadory.

Winston Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Regents, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winston Academy will venture away from home to challenge West Memphis Christian on Saturday. As for Regents, they will head out to take on Lafayette at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
