Baseball Recap: Springstead Takes a Loss

Springstead had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-13 to make it five. They fell 5-1 to the Lecanto Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in February.

Springstead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Giannie, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lecanto, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.

On Lecanto's side, the team relied heavily on David Logue, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springstead will square off against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cobras have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Lecanto, they will take on Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.18 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
