Baseball Game Preview: Murrieta Mesa Rams vs. Woodcrest Christian Royals

The Murrieta Mesa Rams will take on the Woodcrest Christian Royals at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Murrieta Mesa took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Temecula Valley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Golden Bears on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tanner Blackmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JD Nelson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Woodcrest Christian owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Western Christian. The Royals have beaten the Fighting Lancers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Fighting Lancers has come to flipping the script.

Murrieta Mesa's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Woodcrest Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Everything went Murrieta Mesa's way against Woodcrest Christian in their previous matchup back in June of 2021, as Murrieta Mesa made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Royals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
