Basketball Recap: Elmwood-Murdock Extends Winning Streak to Three

Elmwood-Murdock proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 25) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the David City Scouts out 40-38. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Elmwood-Murdock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoe Zierott led the charge by putting up 11 points along with six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Zierott a new career-high in steals. Brooke Goudie was another key player, going 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Elmwood-Murdock was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Elmwood-Murdock now has a winning record of 3-2. As for David City, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Elmwood-Murdock and Falls City will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for David City, they will head out to square off against Clarkson/Leigh at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. David City's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Clarkson/Leigh's offense will have their work cut out for them.
