Basketball Game Preview: Linganore Lancers vs. Westminster Owls

Linganore is 8-1 against Westminster since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Linganore Lancers will square off against the Westminster Owls at 5:30 p.m. Linganore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.

Linganore took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They skirted past Oakdale 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted against Oakdale since February 25, 2020.

It was another big night for Dylan Hodgson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (five). Another player making a difference was Quintin Byrd, who posted eight points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Westminster came up short against South Carroll on Friday and fell 61-50.

Westminster dropped their record down to 6-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Linganore, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Linganore and Westminster were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but Linganore came up empty-handed after a 47-46 loss. Can Linganore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
