Baseball Game Preview: Fulton Steamers vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

The Fulton Steamers will take on the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Fulton will be strutting in after a victory while Ashton-Franklin Center will be coming in after a defeat.

Fulton gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Erie-Prophetstown 6-4. The game was the first time the Steamers have beaten the Panthers on their field since April 14, 2016.

Meanwhile, Ashton-Franklin Center came up short against Bureau Valley on Monday and fell 10-7.

Brock Lehman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Ashton-Franklin Center's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Fulton, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-13.

Fulton suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Ashton-Franklin Center in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Steamers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
