Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Eagles vs. Friona Chieftans

The Roosevelt Eagles will take on the Friona Chieftans at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.

Roosevelt lost 62-36 to Littlefield on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Wildcats are ranked 195th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Friona, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over Muleshoe on Tuesday.

Roosevelt has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for Friona, they pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything went Roosevelt's way against Friona when the teams last played back in January of 2018, as Roosevelt made off with a 54-29 victory. Will Roosevelt repeat their success, or does Friona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
