Basketball Recap: Torrington Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Douglas

On Saturday, Torrington faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Torrington Trailblazers took a 64-49 bruising from the Douglas Bearcats. The Trailblazers lost against the Bearcats in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 84-42 score last time.

Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julian Stromski, who went 8 of 17 en route to 19 points and seven boards. Mac Hibben was another key player, putting up ten points.

Torrington now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Douglas, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Torrington will face off against Rawlins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Torrington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. As for Douglas, they will venture away from home to face off against Glenrock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Douglas' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.
