After flying high against Westminster School at Oak Mountain on Tuesday, Gardendale came back down to earth. Gardendale fell just short of the Marbury Bulldogs by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Rockets' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Gardendale's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Marbury, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-2.

Gardendale and Marbury should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Gardendale (ranked 41st) will meet Pinson Valley (ranked 315th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Marbury will square off against Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday up 65 places (7 vs. 72). The timing is sure in Marbury's favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Valley has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
