Softball Recap: Herndon Hornets vs. Langley Saxons

Herndon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Langley Saxons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Herndon of the 7-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Thursday.

For Langley's part, Norah Jacques made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Jacques has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 16 consecutive pitching appearances. Jacques was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run.

In other batting news, Mina Britt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Elena Calsyn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Herndon's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Langley, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season.
