Volleyball Recap: Harrison Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with River Ridge

Harrison faced River Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hoyas fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1. If the Hoyas were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Harrison came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Leila Smith paced Harrison's offense, picking up ten kills. Smith got some help from Taryn Musca and her 15 assists. Addison Cooley controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Olivia Philpot was the offensive standout of the match as she had 14 digs and two assists. That's the most digs she has posted over her last eight games.

Harrison has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Harrison and River Ridge will both be playing Denmark the next time they take the court. The Knights will head out to face Denmark at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hoyas will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
