Baseball Game Preview: Oglesby Tigers vs. Gholson

Oglesby has gone a perfect 3-0 against Gholson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Oglesby will head out on the road to square off against Gholson at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oglesby has six straight victories, Gholson has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Oglesby is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mount Calm with a sharp 30-1 win on Friday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Callen Webb made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, five runs, and six RBI. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Abram Shaw was a standout: he scored four runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Camden Webb was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Oglesby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Gholson lost 12-2 to Mount Calm on Tuesday.

Gholson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Oglesby, their record is now 7-5.

Everything went Oglesby's way against Gholson when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Oglesby made off with a 16-6 win. Will Oglesby repeat their success, or does Gholson has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
