Soccer Game Preview: Middletown vs. East Providence

The Middletown Islanders will head out on the road to take on the East Providence Townies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Middletown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Middletown will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Wednesday, then bounced right back against West Warwick on Thursday. The Islanders were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Wizards. Sydney Bogosian was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, East Providence faced Ponaganset in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Townies came up short against the Chieftains, falling 4-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as East Providence were already down 3-0.

East Providence's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2-2. As for Middletown, their win bumped their record up to 13-6-2.

Middletown couldn't quite get it done against East Providence when the teams last played on Wednesday as they fell 2-0. Can the Islanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
