Preview: Grundy County Yellowjackets vs. Sequatchie County Indians
Grundy County is 10-0 against Sequatchie County since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Grundy County Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Sequatchie County Indians at 7:00 p.m. Grundy County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Sequatchie County likes a good challenge.
Last Monday, Grundy County beat Franklin County 65-54. Given Grundy County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Franklin County is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Sequatchie County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Van Buren County on Monday, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sequatchie County.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sequatchie County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryker Terry, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds. The contest was Terry's third in a row with at least ten points. Beckham McKendric was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Grundy County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sequatchie County, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Grundy County beat Sequatchie County 53-43 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Does Grundy County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sequatchie County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
