Preview: Clear Lake Falcons vs. Ball Tornadoes
Clear Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Ball Tornadoes at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Lake has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 708 points over their last ten contests.
Clear Lake fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Langham Creek on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 77-76 to the Lobos. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Clear Lake came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Langham Creek is ranked 393rd).
The losing side was boosted by Jason Obert, who scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds. He scored a full 30.3% of Clear Lake's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Vivero, who scored 10 points.
Meanwhile, Ball put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Westbury, posting a 101-65 victory at home. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Clear Lake's victory bumped their season record to 8-2 while Langham Creek's loss dropped theirs to 3-2.
Everything went Clear Lake's way against Ball when the teams last played back in December of 2019 as Clear Lake made off with a 65-40 win. Will Clear Lake repeat their success, or does Ball have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
