Basketball Game Preview: Wilkes Central Eagles vs. North Wilkes Vikings

Wilkes Central is 2-8 against North Wilkes since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wilkes Central Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the North Wilkes Vikings at 6:00 p.m.

Wilkes Central is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Friday. They were beaten by East Surry 63-15. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Cardinals are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, North Wilkes entered their tilt with West Wilkes on Friday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They breezed by the Blackhawks to the tune of 60-31. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

North Wilkes' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. As for Wilkes Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.

Wilkes Central was taken down by North Wilkes 57-11 in their previous matchup on Wednesday. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilkes Central was down 39-7.
