Softball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Takes a Loss

If Ayden - Grifton was riding high fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Fike last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers fell just short of the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Cheyenne Forbes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Ayden - Grifton now has a losing record of 8-9. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will square off against C.B. Aycock at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will face off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
