Baseball Game Preview: Oelwein Huskies vs. Wapsie Valley Warriors

Oelwein is 0-10 against Wapsie Valley since July of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Oelwein is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Aplington-Parkersburg, falling 9-3. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly six runs.

Meanwhile, Wapsie Valley entered their tilt with Union on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Knights 8-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Wapsie Valley pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Oelwein, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Oelwein might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Wapsie Valley when the teams last played back in July of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
