Recap: Loveland Red Wolves vs. Prairie View Thunderhawks

The Loveland Red Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Prairie View. Loveland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Prairie View apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Courtlyn Yaussi and Autumn Rinehart certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Yaussi scored 12 points along with two steals, while Rinehart scored four points along with six rebounds and five steals. Beth DeClement was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Loveland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie View only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Leading Prairie View to victory were Paige Walker and Elizabeth Scaff. Walker scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks, while Scaff scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Scaff scored 15 or more points.

Loveland has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Prairie View, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loveland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brighton at 11:30 a.m. on February 3rd. Brighton is coming into the matchup with eight straight defeats on the road, meaning Loveland will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Prairie View, they will be playing at home against Monarch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Prairie View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
