Volleyball Recap: Burlingame Panthers vs. Sequoia Ravens
Burlingame extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-7. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sequoia Ravens. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Ilsa Carlson paced Burlingame's offense, picking up 20 kills. Carlson got some help from Elaina Newman and her 42 assists. Carlson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
As for Sequoia, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Joslin Fiel went supernova, getting 26 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high. Annika Mock was another key player, getting 11 digs.
Burlingame wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Carlmont on the 16th. As for Sequoia, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Castro Valley on the 13th.
