Preview: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. Trinity Trojans
The Mars Fightin' Planets will be home for the holidays to greet the Trinity Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Mars had to settle for a 52-50 defeat against Kiski Area. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Mars saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ryan Ceh, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Ceh scored a full 34% of Mars' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Remi Black was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Trinity entered their tilt with Africentric Early College with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Trinity came out on top against Africentric Early College by a score of 53-43 on Saturday. Given Trinity's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Africentric Early College is ranked 558th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mars now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Trinity, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
