Preview: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Miller Falcons
The Wellston Golden Rockets on the road again on Friday and play against the Miller Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Miller took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wellston, who comes in off a win.
Even though Alexander scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Wellston still came out on top. Wellston sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 victory over Alexander. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Wellston has posted yet this season.
Meanwhile, Miller came up short against Southern on Tuesday and fell 60-51. Miller has not had much luck with Southern recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Logan Doughty, who scored 19 points. Bryce Dorsey was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds.
Wellston's win ended a 14-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Miller, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Wellston against Miller when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 76-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wellston since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
