Baseball Recap: Beaumont Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Beaumont Cougars came up short against the King Wolves and fell 11-6. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lucas Lugo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Johnnie Gill and Adam Nelson did some serious damage despite the final result: Gill scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Nelson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Gill has posted since back in March of 2024. Trevor Strothers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Beaumont's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for King, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Coming up, Beaumont will host Colony at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Colony's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Beaumont's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for King, they will venture away from home to challenge Ramona at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Ramona has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something King will no doubt try to take advantage of.
