Recap: Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans vs. Palm Bay Pirates

After flying high against the Boca Raton Christian Blazers last Thursday, the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans came back down to earth. Somerset College Prep Academy's tough 67-47 loss to Palm Bay on Saturday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Somerset College Prep Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Palm Bay is ranked 17th).

Despite the defeat, Somerset College Prep Academy had strong showings from Kayla Curry, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, and Kaeley Ciceron, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Ciceron is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Rodgers, who scored seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natalie Allen, who scored 14 points. Kiara Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.

Somerset College Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Palm Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Somerset College Prep Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardinal Newman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palm Bay, Palm Bay and Heritage will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Thursday.
