Basketball Recap: Terra Brubaker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Longmont over Frederick

Longmont lost against Frederick back in March of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Longmont Trojans took a hard 53-35 fall against the Frederick Golden Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 32nd).

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terra Brubaker, who posted seven points and 15 boards. Brubaker has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Schaefer, who scored seven points.

Even though they lost, Longmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Rylee Gallegos had an outrageously good game for Frederick as she almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Those 21 points gave Gallegos a new career-high. Avery Salisbury was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Longmont dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Frederick, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

As of now, neither Longmont nor Frederick have any future games scheduled.
