Basketball Recap: Surprise Valley Takes a Loss

Surprise Valley played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-26 defeat at the hands of the Hayfork Timberjacks. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-13.

Hayfork got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Devin Nanez out in front who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Levi Cavalli, who earned 13 points and five steals.

Surprise Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Hayfork, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Surprise Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Butte Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Surprise Valley is facing Butte Valley at the right time seeing as Butte Valley is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Hayfork, they will venture away from home to face off against Happy Camp at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayfork is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.9 points per game this season.
