Baseball Recap: West Orange-Stark Takes a Loss

West Orange-Stark lost against Big Sandy back in March of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The West Orange-Stark Mustangs lost 15-4 to the Big Sandy Wildcats. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Diego Ibarra was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Ibarra wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Maldonado, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Even though they lost, West Orange-Stark always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Orange-Stark's loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1. As for Big Sandy, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Looking ahead, West Orange-Stark will square off against Port Arthur Memorial at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Orange-Stark has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Big Sandy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats duke it out with the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovelady's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Big Sandy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
