Softball Recap: Gunderson Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Gunderson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the James Lick Comets by a score of 10-7 on Monday. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Dezirae Regalado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaelyn Vejar, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Talia Abuhamid, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Gunderson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gunderson's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for James Lick, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
