Volleyball Recap: Mehlville Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Parkway Central

Mehlville faced Parkway Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Colts.

Mehlville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 30-28, 25-18, 26-24.

Ian Iliff paced Mehlville's offense, picking up 13 kills. Iliff got some help from Ryan Jarrett and his 27 assists. Jarrett was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Gokul Baladhandauthabani was nothing short of spectacular for Parkway Central: he had 25 digs and one assist. Those 25 digs gave Baladhandauthabani a new career-high.

Mehlville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-15 record this season. As for Parkway Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Mehlville nor Parkway Central have any future games scheduled.
