Softball Recap: Cass City Beats Athens for Their Third Straight Win

Cass City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on Athens with a sharp 16-7 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 on Monday.

Cass City pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cass City will face off against Millington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Athens, they will square off against Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something the Red Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
