Softball Recap: Payson Drops Season-High Score on Mountain View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Payson). They put the hurt on the Mountain View Bruins with a sharp 16-1 victory on Tuesday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Paisley Beckstead and Lexie Harmer did most of the damage at the plate: Beckstead fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Harmer went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Harmer launched this season. Allie Callahan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Payson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only managed one hit.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mountain View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Payson will head out to face off against Provo at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Timpanogos at 3:30 p.m. Timpanogos will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Mountain View surely won't give up without a fight.
