Football Recap: Giddings Comes Up Short

Giddings extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They took a blow against the Bellville Brahmas, falling 49-14. The Buffaloes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Although Giddings took the loss, they still got scores from Kyle Montgomery and Corbin Medack.

As for Bellville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly 35 points.

Bellville was led to victory by Knox Bauerschlag and Travis Turner. Bauerschlag threw for 161 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 passes, while Turner rushed for 135 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Those five passing touchdowns gave Bauerschlag a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Giddings will challenge rival La Grange at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bellville is set to take on their familiar foe Madisonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Turner and Jaden Simpson.
