Basketball Recap: South Central Comes Up Short

South Central lost against Washington Township back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The South Central Satellites fell just short of the Washington Township Senators by a score of 59-57.

When it comes to explaining why South Central lost, don't look at Jack Haschel. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-17 to rack up 27 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Haschel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Howard, who posted ten points and six assists.

Washington Township got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Banker out in front who went 5-for-12 on his way to 14 points along with eight assists and six boards. Banker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rob McGowan, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

South Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Washington Township, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Central will face off against Argos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for Washington Township, they will challenge Oregon-Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington Township also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 63.5 points per game.
