Volleyball Game Preview: Canyon Eagles vs. West Plains Wolves + How To Watch

Canyon is 1-6 against West Plains since September of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Eagles will challenge the Wolves at 12:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Canyon comes in on eight and West Plains on six.

On Tuesday, Canyon made easy work of Borger and carried off a 3-0 win.

Canyon was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-19.

Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brylee McElroy, who had 23 assists and four digs. McElroy has been hot, having posted 14 or more assists the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of London Gibson, who had 14 assists and eight digs.

Meanwhile, West Plains got the win against Dumas on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

West Plains not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Dumas between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-17.

West Plains' win came from a few key players Canyon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Idaly Sotelo, who had 13 digs and two aces. Bella Wineberg was another key player, getting 16 assists and six digs.

Canyon's record is now 21-14. As for West Plains, their record now sits at 29-11.

Canyon skirted past West Plains 3-2 in their previous meeting back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
