Softball Recap: Sierra Canyon Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Sierra Canyon barely beat Kennedy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trailblazers never let the Golden Cougars get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Monday. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Leianna Fountaine and Natalia Areliz did most of the damage at the plate: Fountaine went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Areliz went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Areliz has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Sarni, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Sierra Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only posted a batting average of .130.

The win made it two in a row for Sierra Canyon and bumps their season record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Kennedy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Sierra Canyon will head out to take on Louisville at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kennedy, they will venture away from home to face off against Bishop Alemany at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
