Softball Recap: Middletown Takes a Loss

After flying high against Valley Central last Monday, Middletown came back down to earth. The Middie Bears fell just short of the Minisink Valley Warriors by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The match marked the Middie Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Middletown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Minisink Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will square off against Monroe-Woodbury at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Middie Bears 3, the Crusaders 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Minisink Valley, they will take on Monticello at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
