Recap: Elizabeth Minutemen vs. Colonia Patriots

The Elizabeth Minutemen had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Sunday. They skirted past Colonia 59-56. Given Elizabeth's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Colonia is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

London Carson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mcrae, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Elizabeth has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Colonia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elizabeth will square off against Westfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colonia, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
