Basketball Recap: Flint Hill Comes Up Short

Flint Hill had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it five. They lost to the Saint James Saints on the road by a 71-52 margin. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 98th in Virginia, while the Saints are ranked fifth in Maryland).

As for Saint James, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 72.5 points this season.

It was another big night for Jayden Yates, who shot 56% from the field en route to 32 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Xavier Gurdak was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

Flint Hill has already played their next contest, a 58-48 loss against Potomac School on the 18th. As for Saint James, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-35 defeat against Sidwell Friends on the 19th.
