Softball Recap: Point Pleasant Triumphs

While Point Pleasant's victory against Fort Frye wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Big Blacks had just enough and edged out the Cadets 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Big Blacks in their matchups with the Cadets: they've now won three in a row.

Rylann Macknight looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bralee Roush and Josie Shobe did most of the damage at the plate: Roush scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Shobe scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three hits gave Roush a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Callie Hall, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Point Pleasant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Point Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Fort Frye, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Point Pleasant wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-8 win against George Washington on the 8th. As for Fort Frye, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 victory against River on the 8th.
