Baseball Recap: Tuscarora Comes Up Short

Tuscarora fell victim to Loudoun Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Huskies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Tuscarora got a good showing from Ethan Johnson, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ian Sullivan was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Tuscarora's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11. As for Loudoun Valley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

While Tuscarora had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
