Baseball Recap: Akron-Westfield Drops Season-High Score on Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Akron-Westfield). Everything went their way against the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks on Monday as they made off with a 26-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Westerners, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Akron-Westfield's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-5. As for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Akron-Westfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Alta-Aurelia on the 10th. As for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, they will head out to face off against Hinton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blackhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
