Baseball Game Preview: Midway Panthers vs. Harker Heights Knights

The Midway Panthers will challenge the Harker Heights Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Midway comes in on 13 and Harker Heights on four.

Midway's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Copperas Cove by a score of 3-0.

Meanwhile, Harker Heights made easy work of Temple on Tuesday and carried off a 9-1 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Seth Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corey McMillan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wood, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Midway pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Harker Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6-1.
