Basketball Recap: Iben Last's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakewood over Chatfield

Lakewood lost against Chatfield back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lakewood Tigers took a hard 55-41 fall against the Chatfield Chargers. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Iben Last, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Last a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Perea, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and five boards.

Jaden Lodice had an outrageously good game for Chatfield as she went 10-for-12 on her way to 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Lodice is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jordyn Reed was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Chatfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Lakewood will venture away from home to challenge Valor Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Valor Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Chatfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chatfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
