Soccer Game Preview: Sanger vs. Fresno

The Sanger Apaches will head out to square off against the Fresno Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Sanger's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Bullard by a score of 2-0. Given the Apaches' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Knights are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jose Cuellar and Cesar Romo scored both of Sanger's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Fresno was forced to settle for a draw on Tuesday. Neither they nor Justin Garza could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The win made it two in a row for Sanger and bumps their season record up to 10-4-4. Fresno's draw gives them a new season record of 3-6-5.

Sanger came up short against Fresno when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 5-3. Can Sanger avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
