Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Southside Seahawks

Lejeune has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Southside Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Lejeune struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Hurricanes had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lejeune took a hard 57-42 fall against the Hurricanes.

Despite their defeat, Lejeune saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Abigail Gonzales, who scored 14 points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Gonzales has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Shyanne Bryant, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Southside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. The match between them and Pamlico County wasn't particularly close, with Southside falling 51-33.

Lejeune's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Southside, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Lejeune might still be hurting after the 63-38 loss they got from the Seahawks when the teams last played on Thursday. Can Lejeune avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
