Volleyball Game Preview: MacArthur Mammoths vs. Jackson-Reed Tigers

MacArthur is 0-3 against Jackson-Reed since October of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. The Mammoths will take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Jackson-Reed took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on MacArthur, who comes in off a win.

MacArthur is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Capital City Public Charter School as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Mammoths not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since November 6, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Meanwhile, Jackson-Reed faced School Without Walls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Penguins by a score of 3-2.

MacArthur will have to keep a close watch on Layla Hernandez and Samantha Harrison, a pair of players who had a big impact on Jackson-Reed's prior game. Hernandez had 22 digs and one assist, while Harrison had five digs and two aces.

Jackson-Reed's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 17-1 and their overall record down to 21-5-1. As for MacArthur, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

MacArthur came up short against Jackson-Reed in their previous meeting back in October, falling 2-0. Can the Mammoths avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
